Mark “Ziggy” Ziegler
Director of Maintenance
Mark “Ziggy” Ziegler is the Director of Maintenance and Customer Service for Super Petrel USA. He is partnered with Bill “Shortney” Gortney in N925WG a Rotax 912iS LS aircraft in addition to N683WG a new XP aircraft.
Mark is a retired Naval Aviator (22 years) flying the FA-18 Hornet and Blue Angel pilot. He made the transition to civilian life with American Airlines retiring after 22 years as a Boeing 737 Captain. He and his partner Bill Gortney operate Wings of Gold Aviation, LLC (WOGA) from Lake Anna in Virginia.
There they providing flight training, aircraft maintenance and marketing previously owned Super Petrel aircraft. He is a FAA certified flight instructor (CFI) teaching primarily in the Super Petrel aircraft and president of the Super Petrel Flight Instructor Association (SPFIA).
He is a Certified Light Sport Repairman with the Maintenance endorsement (LSRM) as well as a Rotax Certified Repairman (iRMT). Mark teaches the Super Petrel USA Tri-Fecta Maintenance training courses here in Ormond Beach each year and performs nearly all the new aircraft re-assemblies as airplanes arrive from Scoda Aeronautica. He also performs the required new aircraft 25-hour compliance inspections and annual inspections on owner aircraft. Ziggy now has over 900 hours logged in more than 37 different Super Petrel aircraft. As he often says, “Glad to be here”.
