Super Petrel USA 5th Annual Tri-Fecta Event November 2025

In 2021, Super Petrel, in association with Scoda Aeronautica and Wings of Gold Aviation, hosted the 1st Annual Tri-Fecta Maintenance Event. We welcomed around 15 participants, mostly aircraft owners, along with several mechanics eager to learn more about their aircraft and how to perform the Compliance Inspection. We’re excited about the Super Petrel USA 5th Annual Tri-Fecta Event November 2025

By 2024, attendance had grown significantly, with over 70 participants joining us for the 4th Annual Event. Each year we’ve featured outstanding guest presenters, including:

Eddie Ronveaux – Rotax Flying & Safety Club Ltd., BC, Canada

Steve McCaughey – Executive Director, Seaplane Pilots Association

Brad Brinsing – Manager, Garmin Experimental / LSA Sales

This year, we are pleased to announce our guest presenter: John Melchert, U.S. Super Petrel expert and owner. John will share insights into the different types of approved fuels for Rotax engines and, time permitting, take questions from Super Petrel LS owners.

2025 Tri-Fecta Event Planned Schedule:

Wednesday, November 5th (6:00 PM) “Ice Breaker Event”, meet and greet session, lead by our Navy guys.

Thursday, November 6th (8:30 AM) Introduction by Roger Helton, president of Super Petrel USA. , who will address continuing support for the LS aircraft parts and technical support. SPUSA. Followed by Rodrigo Scoda, president of Scoda Aeronautica who will address the Super Petrel XP and future changes and improvements.

John Melchert, aircraft owner and expert on the LS Super Petrel Aircraft, will present the real inside information on MOGAS vs 100LL fuels and a deeper dive on the aircraft electrical systems. Get your questions ready.

Retired Admiral Bill Gortney, our SPUSA Director of Safety, will focus on Airmanship, Flight Safety, Mishap Review and aircraft emergency EGRES. Flying and Aviation Risk Management will be presented by Dan Pedersen our SPUSA Vice President and Chief Pilot. Beginning after the lunch break (provided) the afternoon maintenance session will be presented by Mark Ziegler (Ziggy) our Director of Maintenance along with Todd Wean our lead Customer Support expert, with the focus on what maintenance owners may perform on their own aircraft.

Friday, November 7th (8:30 AM) Mark Ziegler (Ziggy) will focus on the 100 hour and 5-year Compliance Inspection check list and cover special interest items to include Propeller Balancing, Engine Oil and Filter change, Engine and Wing Torquing, Landing Gear inspection and Gas Spring testing, Wheel Bearings replacement, and many more items. The Rotax Line Maintenance Manual checklist will be discussed as it is part of the inspection process. The Rotax new Line Maintenance manual can be located at the following address.

Saturday, November 8th (8:30 AM) Wrap up day to complete the Annual Inspection and answer any questions. The purpose of the Tri-Fecta is to focus primarily on three areas, Safety, Maintenance and Aircraft Equipment updates. It is also a great opportunity to meet other owners and see the new Super Petrel XP.

If you own a Super Petrel LS or XP, this is a great chance to deepen your knowledge of your aircraft and learn what maintenance you can perform yourself.

Mechanics Welcome For FREE: If your mechanic will be maintaining your aircraft, encourage them to attend, all A&Ps and LSRMs can attend at no cost.
